#16 Song of the Day: River Dreams Written by Douglas Wood Performed by Kathy Neufeld Recorded by Chris Davison
I grew up in the small town of Minnedosa, Manitoba. "Minnedosa" means "flowing water" in the Dakota language. The town has a swift flowing river that winds through it. My family lived on a small acreage right beside the river. In the summer, my dad would take us kids swimming in the river. It was beautiful and full of a dreamy quality.
Later I lived in Minnesota. "Minnesota" means "sky-tinted water" in the Dakota language. The song "River Dreams" was written by a Minnesotan composer named Douglas Wood, who also knew the magic of rivers.
